I am a qualified holistic massage therapist, having gained a Level 3 Diploma in Holistic Massage and Human Anatomy & Physiology. I aim to provide a safe space for you to relax, press pause on the outside world, and take some time just for you.

How Aromatherapy Massage works...

Massage has been used as a wellness tool for centuries, with some cultures today even incorporating some form of massage into their daily routines. The stress which forms an often inevitable part of our modern lives can leave us fired up with hormones, and can end up stored as tension within the body. If left unchecked, this tension and toxicity can accumulate and cause ill health.

 

During a massage session, I use gentle, soothing strokes which allow the body and muscles to relax and ease, while the stimulation and manipulation of various muscular areas allow stored tension and toxicity to be released.

Combined with aromatherapy, the concentrated plant essences within the essential oils allow the healing properties of these plants to be absorbed into the body, which can then get to work on any physical health conditions or mental and emotional unease. For example, rose essential oil works wonders on grief, while rosemary is wonderful for circulatory issues. There is an essential oil for everything!

Massage - Frequently Asked Questions

I'm new to holistic healing - how can massage help me?

Holistic healing is intended to heal all parts of your being - physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. It addresses the root causes of an issue as opposed to the symptoms, and helps the body enter the parasympathetic nervous state, which in turn encourages your body to release trauma, tension and dis-ease, and allow itself to heal. During a massage, the gentle strokes soothe and relax the body, whereas the stimulation and manipulation of other muscle groups allow stored tension and toxins to be released. This means that clients often leave a massage treatment feeling fully relaxed, peaceful, calm and restored.

Will I need to remove any clothing?

In order to access the muscles properly you will be required to remove clothing apart from underwear, but I will discuss this with you to ensure you are comfortable. You will also be covered with a warm, soft towel at all times too, so no need to worry about being exposed or feeling cold!

How often do I need to come for massage?

This really depends on how you feel - sometimes it can be helpful to come for a number of sessions in quick succession, or a regular weekly or monthly treatment. Sometimes it can be helpful to leave gaps between treatments to allow the healing to integrate. We can discuss your goals for your treatment and take it from there.

What other services do you offer?

In terms of massage, the treatments I have detailed above is everything I offer. You can expect a professional holistic massage which will leave you feeling relaxed and stress-free. I don't offer any additional services.

How can I book a massage session?

How much does massage cost?

Sessions start at £30 for an Indian Head massage (45 minutes), going up to just £55 for a full body treatment (75 mins).

What is the holistic introductory session for?

This session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, discuss your interest in holistic therapy options and what your goals and expectations are for your treatment. I can also answer any questions you may have about how holistic therapy works and what to expect from your session.

Can I stop seeing my doctor or taking my medication with massage?

Massage is a complementary therapy - which means it absolutely is not a direct replacement for conventional medicine, which has its own invaluable benefits and advantages in management of health conditions. You may find that you begin to feel better with massage treatments, but any changes to medication or other action regarding your health must be discussed with your doctor or healthcare professional.

Are there any reasons why I wouldn't be able to have a massage treatment?

While massage is a relaxing healing modality, there are a couple of scenarios where a treatment would not be advised:

- if you have any recent bone fractures (within the last three months) or other recent injury

- If you have an embolism or deep vein thrombosis

- If you feel unwell or have a contagious condition

- If you are receiving oncology treatment

- If you are in the first trimester of pregnancy

There are some other contraindications to treatment - a full consultation is included in your session.

Are there any side effects to a massage treatment?

Because massage is an holistic therapy, it can trigger the body into releasing what is no longer needed - in real life this can bring with it a number of symptoms, such as a temporary flare-up of existing conditions, feeling like you have a cold, needing to go to the toilet more often, or having strange dreams for example. However, all these effects are temporary (lasting no more than 48 hours as a general rule), and are a sign that the treatment is working, so there is no need to worry. I will discuss what to look out for after your treatment and be on hand to answer any questions if you have any concerns following your treatment.

How will I know if Indigo Holistics is right for me?

Finding a therapist you can trust to listen and hold space for you is crucial, and I am fully supportive in your journey. An holistic introductory session is a good opportunity to assess our compatibility and determine if you would like to go ahead and work together. My dedication to your wellbeing is such that, if at any point you feel our sessions are not the right match for you, I will assist you with finding a more suitable therapist to meet your needs.
