Reiki Healing in Chorley with Indigo Holistics

If you are wanting to feel more relaxed, less tense and more in control of your wellbeing, Reiki may just be the perfect treatment for you!

Reiki is a non-invasive, gentle healing method which involves minimal touch but offers maximum relaxation. It can be experienced lying down or seated (or even standing!), and involves the therapist placing their hands on or over various areas around the body, where the therapist directs universal life energy into your body to encourage your body's natural healing capabilities.

I am a Reiki Master (III Degree), having the honour and privilege of training with Jayne Whiteley of MoonTree in Horwich, so my lineage can be traced back to the founder of Reiki, Mikao Usui. I have been practising Reiki for over fourteen years.

I offer Reiki in Chorley from the beautiful treatment rooms at Health @ Heart, offering a wonderful and welcoming space where you can pause, relax and release that which is no longer serving you.

How Reiki Healing works...

Reiki means 'universal life force'. It holds the same meaning as 'Prana' in Yoga, or 'Chi' in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Reiki refers to the spark of energy and consciousness which runs through all things, and brings life to all beings.

During a Reiki healing session, I draw on this energy and direct it with focus and intention towards various areas of your body. When you receive this energy, it activates your parasympathetic nervous system, which induces a state of cosy relaxation, and stimulates your body's own self-healing ability. Your body then uses it's own intelligence to release what is no longer needed - physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

Reiki is not bound by the limits of time and space either, which means Reiki can be given to a person or being, an object, a situation or environment, regardless of where (or when) they may be in the world. In the same way, the focus and the intention used within the treatment can help remove any energy blocks, encourage flow, and bring about what is for the highest good of all.

Why choose an Holistic Approach to Healing?

Our modern lives are woven with hidden stressors to our systems - the additives in our foods, the pollution in the air, the chemicals in our household products. Added to this we live busy lives, giving out our energy continuously to work, family, relationships, activities... the list goes on! We are affected by the energies of others as we go about our day, which can impact on our mood.

This depletion and transactional exchange of energy can take its toll on our bodies, minds and spirit. Over time, this can mean our bodies are accumulating physical and emotional tension, which can often leave us feeling fried, fatigued and, if left unchecked, can lead to illness.

Reiki offers the opportunity for stagnant energy to be cleared, allowing your body to feel renewed and re-energised. The clearing of the aura and chakra system can also allow stored tensions from your past to be released, and often leads to clarity of the mind and a new perspective on your whole self on a spiritual level.

Because Reiki is an holistic treatment, it is intended to heal all parts of the body - physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. This means that often you may come for a Reiki treatment for one thing, and find it actually has unexpected benefits in another area! Your body knows what it needs, and the Reiki will head straight for any areas where you are holding onto something that no longer serves you.

Testimonials for Indigo Holistics...

Ellie - Bolton

Indigo Holistics
I have been to Indigo Holistics for a number of treatments now - reiki, crystal healing, group meditation and more recently, compassion meditation. I would not hesitate to recommend Christina. Her passion and knowledge is clear, she explained everything to me prior to treatments and what to expect and always checked in with me in the days following to ensure that I am OK and looking after myself. She provides a tranquil, safe environment and I always come away feeling fully relaxed. I would not hesitate to recommend Christina and I will continue to visit her at Indigo Holistics.

Reiki - Frequently Asked Questions

I'm really sceptical - how do I know Reiki is going to do anything?

It's not surprising that most people new to Reiki start off quite sceptical - due to treatments being experienced in a very individual way, most available evidence of its efficacy is anecdotal. However, energy healing is not a new concept, and the vast majority of clients report feeling relaxed and unburdened following a treatment. The key to an effective treatment is being open to it, and my job as a therapist is to help you feel safe in your treatment. I am here to answer any questions or concerns you may have.

How does it feel to receive Reiki?

Everybody experiences a Reiki treatment differently, but there are some common themes; some report feeling weightless, feeling movements, pulses or waves within the body, seeing lights or colours, feeling tingling, pulling or hot/cold sensations. Some report having visions or memories coming forward, some report having an emotional response. Some clients experience none of the above and instead report feeling like they've had a good night's sleep! The thing to remember is that all these effects are safe and temporary - they are just signs that the body is responding, processing and releasing what it no longer needs.

I'm new to holistic healing - how can Reiki help me?

Holistic healing is intended to heal all parts of your being - physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. It addresses the root causes of an issue as opposed to the symptoms, and helps the body enter the parasympathetic nervous state, which in turn encourages your body to release trauma, tension and dis-ease, and allow itself to heal. Universal life energy is directed into the client with the intention of working for the client's highest good, and the body does the rest. This means that often the results can be unexpected - clients often report gaining insights, feeling enabled to move forward, make life decisions and feel more like themselves following a treatment - even if that's not what they came for!

Is Reiki like a massage? Will I need to remove any clothing?

No - all Reiki treatments are given over clothing, and involve minimal touch (hands are placed gently on particular areas of the body and held over others). Touch will be discussed prior to your treatment to ensure you are comfortable and feel safe at all times.

How often do I need to come for Reiki?

This really depends on how you feel - sometimes it can be helpful to come for a number of sessions in quick succession, but often it can be almost as helpful to leave gaps between treatments to allow the healing to integrate. We can discuss your goals for your treatment and take it from there.

How can I book a Reiki session?

You can book a Reiki session online here or contact me to find out more, ask me a question or book a session offline.

How much does Reiki cost?

Sessions start at £35 for 50 minutes, going up to £60 for a full treatment.

What is the holistic introductory session for?

This session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, discuss your interest in holistic therapy options and what your goals and expectations are for your treatment. I can also answer any questions you may have about how holistic therapy works and what to expect from your session.

Can I stop seeing my doctor or taking my medication with Reiki healing?

Reiki healing is a complementary therapy - which means it absolutely is not a direct replacement for conventional medicine, which has its own invaluable benefits and advantages in management of health conditions. You may find that you begin to feel better with Reiki treatments, but any changes to medication or other action regarding your health must be discussed with your doctor or healthcare professional.

Are there any reasons why I wouldn't be able to have a Reiki treatment?

While Reiki is a gentle healing modality, there are a couple of scenarios where a treatment would not be advised:

- if you have any bone fractures (or suspected fractures)

- If you are in the first trimester of pregnancy (just to be safe).

Are there any side effects to a Reiki treatment?

Because Reiki is an holistic therapy, it can trigger the body into releasing what is no longer needed - in real life this can bring with it a number of symptoms, such as a temporary flare-up of existing conditions, feeling like you have a cold, needing to go to the toilet more often, or having strange dreams for example. However, all these effects are temporary (lasting no more than 48 hours as a general rule), and are a sign that the treatment is working, so there is no need to worry. I will discuss what to look out for after your treatment and be on hand to answer any questions if you have any concerns following your treatment.

How will I know if Indigo Holistics is right for me?

Finding a therapist you can trust to listen and hold space for you is crucial, and I am fully supportive in your journey. An holistic introductory session is a good opportunity to assess our compatibility and determine if you would like to go ahead and work together. My dedication to your wellbeing is such that, if at any point you feel our sessions are not the right match for you, I will assist you with finding a more suitable therapist to meet your needs.
